Whenever the name of dangerous disasters is taken in natural calamities, there is definitely mention of flood. Flood simply means accumulation of excessive water in one place. India remains prone to floods in the country, because half of India is surrounded by sea and many rivers are also present in the country. Floods occur in areas where there is excessive flow and poor drainage system. Many cities around the world have to face this severe flood every year, the most damage is done to the cities located near rivers and oceans. Floods occur due to excess water in the plains due to rupture of dams, excess water in the ocean due to sudden melting of glaciers. Storms and tsunamis cause flooding in coastal areas. After floods it becomes difficult for people and animals to live, along with them there is destruction of plants and soil. The irony is that the government, despite knowing the flood affected areas, has not yet taken proper measures such as drainage system and water storage system. Floods cause damage to living conditions and recovery from this disaster takes a long time. Therefore, the consequences of floods should be known and steps should be taken to prevent it. Whenever there is a rainy season, the risk of floods will increase. Whenever there is excessive rain during the rainy season, the possibility of floods becomes strong. Flood can come at any place but most of it comes only where there is only river or water around it. If there is proper drainage system at that place, then no matter what the rain there is no flood like situation. As the summer season starts the temperature rises, due to which the ice frozen in winter starts melting. If the snow melts slowly then there is no problem. But due to the sudden increase in temperature, the glaciers of the glacier start melting which makes the ocean flow more. Due to which there is flood. A dam is constructed to protect the water falling from a height, but when the water comes against the capacity of the dam it becomes difficult to stop it, resulting in floods.
