In the long run, learning how to modify your routine based on how your body responds -- especially in the context of potential overuse injuries -- is going to be THE most important thing you can learn when it comes to training. The number one predictor of an injury is a previous injury. Knowing when you need to back down and modify your routine is valuable information that will stick with you for decades in both coaching and training.
