Shri Ram, also known as Rama, is a revered deity in Hinduism, considered the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is the central figure in the epic Ramayana, celebrated as an ideal man and a protector of Dharma (righteousness). Born in Ayodhya, he is known for his virtuous life, facing trials like exile and the abduction of his wife Sita, and ultimately triumphing over evil.  Rama was born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya. He was exiled to the forest for 14 years, during which his wife Sita was abducted by Ravana. Rama, along with his brother Lakshmana and the monkey god Hanuman, fought a great war against Ravana to rescue Sita.  After defeating Ravana, Rama returned to Ayodhya and was crowned king.

Rama is believed to be a Purnavatar, a complete incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who descends to Earth to restore Dharma and vanquish evil. He is revered as the Maryada Purushottam the best among men, embodying virtues like righteousness, compassion, and courage.  The Ramayana narrates his life story, highlighting his challenges, his marriage to Sita, his exile, and his eventual victory over the demon king Ravana.
