Ella leaned back on the park bench, eyes wide with excitement. "I asked an AI to write my entire essay last night," she said, holding up her phone. "It took like two minutes! It even used my writing style, It’s scary how smart it is." Beside her Jonah raised an eyebrow, skeptical as always. "That’s cool and all," he said, “but don’t you think it’s kinda... cheating? I mean, what if we all stop thinking for ourselves?” He plucked a blade of grass and rolled it between his fingers, clearly unconvinced.
Maya, ever the peacemaker of the group, chimed in from her spot on the grass. "I don’t think it’s black and white. AI can help us, but it depends how we use it. Like, I’ve been using it to learn coding, just small stuff, but it explains things way better than my textbook." She paused, looking at the sky. "It’s like a super helpful assistant... not a replacement for real learning." Ella nodded. "Exactly! I’m not replacing my brain. I’m just getting unstuck faster." Jonah snorted. "Next thing you know, AI’s writing your love letters and choosing your breakfast."
The three of them laughed, but a thoughtful silence followed. The idea that machines could think or at least mimic thinking was no longer science fiction. Maya picked up her sketchbook and said, "Maybe the real question is: how do we stay human in a world where machines can do almost everything?" No one had an answer, but for now, the conversation was enough.
