The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued to spar after the Election Commission announced the dates of the upcoming Delhi assembly election. BJP lined up attacks against AAP over the CAG report released on renovations in CM’s official residence, while AAP MP Sanjay Singh challenged the saffron party to open the gates of Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ to the public to show the truth behind the alleged modifications made to the house. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that cold wave is likely to intensify in the national capital over the next couple of days, with the temperature expected to drop to 5 degrees Celsius. Delhi woke up to thick fog on Wednesday morning, with low visibility leading more delays in train and flight operations. The minimum temperature in Delhi on January 8 was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius, while the air quality index (AQI) stood at 196. The Election Commission of India announced the poll schedule of the upcoming Delhi assembly election 2025 voting will take place in a single phase on February 5, and results will be declared on February 8. The term of the Delhi Assembly, consisting of 70 MLAs, is set to end on February 23. In 2020, the elections were announced on January 6, polling was held on February 8, and votes were counted on February 11. Further, the Model Code of Conduct will be implemented in Delhi following the announcement by the ECI, and remain in place till the elections conclude. The Public Works Department on Thursday allotted Delhi Chief Minister Atishi new housing options. Earlier, she was allotted the 6 Flagstaff Road bungalow in Civil Lines. PWD officials told The Indian Express that the Delhi CM accepted the Civil Lines bungalow technically, but she did not physically move to the house. Despite several requests from PWD officials and issuance of “Habitable certificate” she did not move, so the offer got cancelled. The department also said that it was not a designated house for CM. THE Delhi Assembly poll dates are finally out, with voting on February 5 and results on February 8. Going by past polls, the BJP’s dominance in recent Lok Sabha polls notwithstanding, Delhi’s Assembly has been dominated first by the Congress and now by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
