The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev is celebrated on the full moon day of Kartik month. On this auspicious occasion, people of the Sikh community take out Prabhat Pheri from the morning and along with it, Kirtan and Langar are organized in a Gurudwara. Guru Nanak Jayanti is also called Prakash Parv, the main reason for this is that on this day, the first day of Sikhism is celebrated. Since Guru Guru Nanak Ji was born, his birthday is celebrated as Nanak Jayanti. Prabhat Pheris are taken out from early morning and kirtans and langars are organized in Gurudwaras. This day is also called Prakash Parv, because Guru Nanak Dev, the main follower of Punjabi religion, was born on this day.
Guru Nanak ji did what he did for his home for the welfare and protection of humanity and for 24 consecutive years he traveled to every corner of the country and other parts of the country so that people could understand the true definition of humanity. He served all the people with devotion and He sincerely believed that we are all children of God and no one is small or big. He worked to spread this idea to all people and he spread the message of Sikhism. This is the reason for his establishment that he is called the first Guru of Sikhism. Apart from this, he strongly opposed the superstitions and evil practices prevalent in the society and also worked to make people aware.  
Guru Nanak Jayanti is an important festival in Sikhism. Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated as Guru Nanak Jayanti.
