Not only this, most of the people of other countries like Fiji Mauritius  Guyana, Suriname speak Hindi. Some people of Nepal adjoining India also speak Hindi. Today Hindi is moving towards becoming a world language by crossing the stages of official language, contact language, and public language. Hindi language is the language of love union and harmony. It is mainly the contribution of Aryans and Parsis. Most of the words in Hindi are derived from Sanskrit, Arabic and Persian languages. Hindi is a capable language in itself. Hindi is generous by nature, receptive tolerant and the carrier of India's national consciousness.
Apart from being an ancient, rich and great language of the world, it is also our official language. After the independence of India, on 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly decided by one vote that the Hindi language would be the official language of India. It is only after this important decision that on the request of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha, every year 14 September is celebrated as Hindi Day all over India since 1953 to propagate Hindi in every region.
Hindi is the language of a vast area and mass of people not only in India but all over the world. In 1952 it was ranked fifth in the world based on the language used. Around 1980 it dropped to third place after Chinese and English. In 1991 it was found that the number of Hindi speakers exceeds the number of English speakers in the whole world, which encompasses a vast segment of the middle class. The purchasing power of this middle class has increased significantly over the years. Today, it is the compulsion of multinational companies to adopt Hindi for the promotion, packing, quality etc. of their goods and their compulsion has become the power of Hindi today.
The process of liberalization, globalization and industrialization accelerated in India in the 1980s and 1990s. As a result of this many foreign multinational companies came to India, then there was a threat to Hindi, because they had brought English with them. Media maestro Rupert Murdoch brought the Star Channel. This channel in English was started with great fanfare. On the same lines, Sony and other channels also came to India with their programs in English. But all of them were forced to turn to Hindi, because they had to increase their viewership. Had to increase my business, my profit which was possible only through Hindi.
