National International Girl Child Day is celebrated every year on 11 October as National Working Day for International Girl Child Day. This festival was started to give more support and new opportunities for girls in the country. It is celebrated to increase awareness among the people about facing all disparities by the girl child in the society. Discrimination with the girl child is a major problem that is spread in many areas such as inequality in education nutrition, legal rights, medical care security, respect, child marriage etc. This mission increases awareness among the people of the entire country about the importance of girls' progress. It enhances girls' meaningful contribution to the decision-making process through the effective support of other community members and parents.
It is celebrated among social people to improve their lives and to promote the status of girls in society. It is very important that different types of social discrimination and exploitation should be completely removed from the society which girls face everyday in their lives. In order to increase awareness about the need for the rights of girls in the society, various political and community leaders give a speech in public about equal education and fundamental freedom. It is very important for girls to get stronger, safer and better environment. They should be aware of every truth of life and legal rights. They should be aware that they have the right to good education, nutrition, and health care. They should be very well aware of the laws of domestic violence including Section 2009, Prevention of Child Marriage Act 2009 Dowry Recketham Act 2006 etc. for their proper right in life and to face all challenges. In our country, the female literacy rate is still  and one-third of young girls are malnourished. Due to limited access to healthcare and gender inequality in the society, women of reproductive age group are suffering from various diseases and anemia. A number of steps have been taken at the national and state level by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to improve the condition of the girl child through various schemes. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a scheme called Dhanalakshmi under which cash transfer to the girl child's family is done to fulfill the basic needs such as desalination, birth registration, enrollment in school and maintenance up to class 8.  The Right to Education Act has provided free and necessary education for the girl child.
