The Veer Rajputs of Rajasthan were at the forefront of sacrificing everything on the land of India. His songs Aan Baan and Shaan Jag are famous. Bharat Mata is proud of her brave Rajput sons. Maharana Pratap is also a descendant of these heroic Rajputs. Maharana Pratap was born on 9 May 1540 in a royal family of Chittor. Maharana Pratap's father Uday Singh, fearing the Akbar's vast army, made Udaipur his capital. Maharana Pratap became the king of Udaipur after his father's death in 1572.
Maharana Pratap was a good warrior like his grandfather Rana Sanga. His father did not like him to leave Chittor fearing Akbar. He wanted to free Chittor from the clutches of Akbar. Therefore, he vowed that 'he will sleep on the ground till then withdraw Chittor will eat on leaves and will not give his mustache.
Akbar was a moral emperor. He had won many states. To conquer Maharana Pratap he sent a large army to his commander. The battle of Haldi valley in 1576 AD is very famous. Maharana Pratap faced Akbar's vast army with soldiers on his fist, but eventually escaped into the jungles with his beloved horse Chetak.
Following his pledge in the forest, he yearned to make his motherland independent. A Seth named Bhamashah assisted him in forming an army by giving his capital. Maharana Pratap formed an army with the capital given by Bhamashah and soon conquered many territories.
But even while reaching the death bed, he was saddened by not being able to free Chittor. He was the true son of Mother India. He is still remembered today for his bravery and patriotism.
