Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of a flower. The function of a flower is to produce fruit and seed. The ovary forms the fruit and the ovule forms the seed. The fruit and seed can be formed when the ovule inside the ovary is fertilized. That is they must come together with a pollen grain. There are two kinds of pollination. They are self pollination and cross pollination. Self pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of a flower. Cross pollination on the other hand is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther of one flower to the stigma of another flower on another plant of the same species.
