An out standing scientific discovery popularly known as the Raman effect Raman effect, was made to this day by Indian scientist Professor Chandrashekhar Venkata Raman in Kolkata in 1928 with the help of which the molecular and atomic structure of particles can be detected. And for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 At that time no person from India or Asia had received the Nobel Prize in Physics. Raman used alcohol to demonstrate this effect at the award ceremony. Later when alcohol was introduced during dinner, Raman did not even touch him due to Indian traditions. According to the Raman effect, when single wavelength light monochromatic rays pass through a transparent medium solid liquid, or gas then its dispersed rays are studied, in addition to the original light rays, at very stable differences apart. Rays of intensity are also present. These rays are called Raman-rays. These rays are caused by the gain or loss of energy in the rays of the original light due to vibration and rotation of the particles of the medium. The Raman effect is an effective tool in the study of the molecular structure of chemicals. It also has great importance in other branches of scientific research, such as medicine, biology, physics chemical science astronomy and telecommunications. In fact, the discovery of the Raman effect also confirmed the theory of Einstein in which he stated that light has some properties along with the wave as well as the properties of molecules. Earlier Newton had said that light is just a wave and the properties of molecules are not found in it. Einstein gave the opposite theory and proved it with Raman effect. Subhash Singh Professor of Physics at Acharya Narendra Dev College said, The molecular and atomic structure of compounds present in substances can pave the way for further discoveries so the Raman effect is significant in itself.
