No Matter  the violent agitation, the Army is determined to launch the Agni path scheme and to start recruitment of eligible youngsters as Agni veers from July onwards. But those who have indulged in violence, in destruction of property during the anti Agni path agitation and have offences registered against  them will stand no chance of any recruitment. After pelting stones, after doing so much damage not just to public property through arson and looting, they will be the biggest losers in the entire episode. They never realised that by indulging in violence, they were blocking their own chances of getting recruitment or employment. They played into wrong hands, they walked on a wrong path, and invited trouble for themselves. They will be the ultimate losers, and not the Army or Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi . The Army, the Air Force, and the Navy are all geared up to launch Agni path. The country's security establishment has always wanted younger Armed Forces-standing on the recommendation of what is known as Kargil Committee Report. Agni path is the outcome of that concern. A serious and sincere thought has gone into the details of the scheme. Yet, the Government is willing to make amends - which was proved when it changed the age bar. There could still be some more changes if found necessary. Yet, the scheme will be implemented to fulfill bigger national objectives. One of the concerns is to reduce the burden of pension amount that the Armed Forces pay. This spending reduces the quantum of spending on arms and ammunition and weapons and technical inputs modern Armed Forces require. Over time, the plan is to reduce this segment of expenditure and increase spending on weapons etc. Over time, the Armed Forces will acquire a younger age-average-which was the case during the Bangladesh war. Indian Armed Forces enjoyed a better age-average and therefore could finish the war in just 13-14 days. By the time of Kargil conflict, the age-average had changed adversely and the lacuna was felt. Hence came the Kargil Committee recommendation that efforts be made to reduce and average age of the fighting force. The masterminds of the current anti-Agni path agitation were least bothered about the finer details of why the Government wanted to implement the scheme. They Neither were they concerned about the bigger national objectives nor were they concerned about the welfare of the young people whose raw and thoughtless energy they harnessed to fulfill their short-term political motives. They instigated the young people to launch a violent agitation and make demands whose meaning they themselves did not understand. As a result, the country public property - more particularly trains and buses - worth hundreds of crores. As a result, countless hundreds of young people got offences registered against them. The young people never realised what they were doing when they indulged in actions that made little sense even to themselves. They did not know that each stone they pelted, each train they burned, each bus they broke and upturned took them farther from any possible job of whatever nature with the Armed Forces. They were fools and made fools of themselves. What hurts most is the thoughtlessness of some political parties and persons. They have made their life’s mission to oppose whatever the Prime Minister and the Government do. They do not realise that they harm national interest. When they take such an approach, the common voters do not approve of their actions. This is what many political parties have done for long, in the process losing not just their common sense but also their vote-base. These political outfits run by regional satraps and criminal riffraff's have kept losing their ground to the Prime Minister by their thoughtlessness - though without realising it. It is good that the Armed Forces are firm on Agnipath. The Government, too, should never withdraw the scheme under pressure. It must let the criminal elements to know that when the Government moves, it does so most decisively and with a sense of purpose. Agnipath is the right path to take.
