In the Ayurvedic texts, Mahishaksha, Mahanil, Kumud, Padma and Hiranya Guggulu describe these five distinctions. Mahishaksh Guggulu is black in color like a bumblebee. Mahanil Guggulu is blue in color Kumud Guggulu is colored like Kumud fruit, red color like Padma Guggul Manikya and Hiranyaksha Guggulu is gold i.e. gold. The new googlu is smooth, gold-like clean fragrant, yellow in color and resembles ripe berries.
