Look at this photograph. Don't they look lifke simple grandmothers? But they are different. The picture is of the three sisters - Jwala, Leela and Herra. They live in Mumbai. All three of them played Kabaddi, and taught the game to others. Jwala tells, when we young, girls were not allowed to play this game, people thoughyt that if girls played such rought games nobady would marry them. They also said that the girls had to wear body. clothes to play kabaddi. That is why is they stopped girls from playing.
Time passed quickly. I finished my studies and got a job. Amma Baba wanted me to get married. I thought that before I got married we should repair our house anhd build one more room. In those days, people in cities were using cement. They said that this made the hosues stornger. We also thought we would use cement. We used iron and cement for making the foof of the new romm.
In those days unbaked bricks were also available in the market. We made the walls with them. The use of bricks was useful - we did not need to coat the wall every week. Once a year we would witewash the walls. We also built a small kitchen in the couryard. The kitchen had a mud chulha and place to keep the vessels.
