What fingers do you use when you type?
I want to record my fingers, while typing. Because I want to see how I type. But I don't know how to set up a camera the right position.
How do you guys want me to record my fingers? (Position)
I'm using left and right index finger (I had to use google to find out the finger-name point finger or index finger ) and thumb finger.
Only 3 fingers, im using the thumb for the "m" only.

Re: What fingers do you use when you type?
Hey I'm curious, how are you able to type so quickly with only 3 fingers? I'm really excited to see a video of you where you show your fingers. As to how to place your camera, I don't really care how you place it. I'm sure someone else might think differently though.
To stay on topic, I use all my fingers but the left thumb (homerow).

Re: What fingers do you use when you type?
I found out that I was typing with 3 fingers all the time, when my friend told me "Hey dude, you know what I found out? You're only typing with 3 fingers" and I was like "Huh, no? I'm not.." and then I realize I was actually typing with 3 fingers..
But yeah, I just tried to record myself, but you can't see the words on the screen

Re: What fingers do you use when you type?
Hi 2014 and welcome to this forum.
You say "3 fingers", but which finger do you use for the space bar? Also, I can see on your 10FF profile that you make some corrections. So which finger do you use for backspace? And it appears you type in the Norwegian advanced mode too (in which there are capital letters), so which finger do you use for capitals? On your video, one can see you're using at least 4 fingers: your two index fingers and your two thumbs (not "2-3" as you specified in the description). But this video is in normal mode (so no uppercase) and you didn't correct yourself. ^^
When you give the number of fingers you use at typing, you have to count all fingers that type any key, not only letters, otherwise it means nothing.
In my case, here is my fingering.
Regarding the placement of your camera, you can see here a video of me, with an angle that allows a clear view of all my fingers.
I made this video just for testing, like you, it was not a great run. My highest score in Norwegian is 140 WPM, which I think is not so bad for a French guy who knows absolutely nothing about Norwegian and has twice your age.

Re: What fingers do you use when you type?
Thank you Linsk!
Typing: Right-index, Left-index and Right-thumb
Backspace: Ring-finger
Shift: Left-little finger
Spacebar: Right- and Left-thumb
I'm using my index fingers when I type capitals.
- How did you place your camera? I don't have a mini-web camera thing.. so i'm using a Sony Camera instead xD
And.. yeah, you're really good in norwegian too be a French man.

Ok, that means you use 6 fingers. ^^
My webcam is simply fixed on my screen and oriented towards my keyboard.

possible to touch type with 3 fingers?
Right now I am typing at about 55-60 WPM using hunt and peck with the 3 main fingers + thumb. I have tried touch typing but have found it is too hard to adjust to especially when using the pinky.
So is it possible to touch type without the pinky?

Hi, patter23!
Yes, it is possible to touch-type without the pinky
It may be hard, but it is possible

Right or wrong?
Is there anything that's called wrong touch-typing?
Right and left index finger: First and second row + "B" in third row (QWERTY)
Right and left thumb: z x c v n m
And what's "right" touch-typing?
(Sorry, i'm really bad in english )
