Idea for a new mode?
I was just thinking.. how about being able to have a competition, but the words / paragraph etc that users type was written by the competition starter? I own a PC shop, and I'd love to have a comp on Facebook or something and say "the fastest typist in 3 weeks time gets a free whatever..."...

Re: New "practice" mode
You could go a different way an add another mode, where it's a "combo" mode. Literally just the longest chain of correctly spelled words, either words that are correct but corrections are allowed, or a combo of words without correction. This way it keeps modes separate and simple to unders...

Re: New "practice" mode
I would suggest getting a final list of options set, (capitals, numbers, symbols etc) and then we work out pointing systems. The simplest of course is to assign everything a percentage, so that adding numbers to a test adds 10% difficulty, meaning 10% points bonus and so on. This way, you add all th...

Re: New "practice" mode
Yes it would.
If the stats at the end of any test shows if it's been paused or not, I suppose employers or just friends etc can see if they've paused. You could even have a simple line stating "Tom Allen typed 167 words in a row without pausing" or something.
I like all these ideas .

Re: New "practice" mode
Hmm I suppose that is true. Though I feel surely, that the idea of a 10 minute test is to see how fast you can type for a solid 10 minutes. If you're able to pause it, the stats wouldn't be showing what you can do for 10 minutes. I would however completely support a pause feature on an infinite test...

Re: New "practice" mode
I'd say to keep away from a pause feature myself. There's no professional typing test or anything where you're allowed to stop and walk away and wipe the sweat from your hands haha. So adding a pause feature might sound good, but actually allow people to 'cheat' on endurance tests. You could have it...

Re: New "practice" mode
I know how I've written them maths isn't quite correct, but you should be able to see the idea.
Add up the difficulty, then add another multiplier for the duration.

Re: Gossip - Happy new year 2013!
Might be a bit too late now.. but as a web developer and a pretty nifty PHP coder, I might be able to write a script that would transfer all content from one forum into another's database? If you're interested let me know, though I would need access to the databases so it's your call.

Re: New "practice" mode
Sorry - I never saw this post, hence making the suggestion to pretty much do what you've spoke of here. (TLDR: Skip to bold text below) I would suggest a system, where if you run a test with only common words checked, you get 1 point per WPM. So it's much like the current system, and it could say sh...
