Re: Advanced competition?

All levels of skill must be accounted for. I don't understand your response. Are you saying we should have advanced competitions? Because that would account for all skill levels. I am not arguing for only advanced competitions. I am arguing for having both types. No one would be forced to join one ...

Re: What the hell jvm? Chill out!

jvm annoys the hell out of me, but he is not cheating. I also do not cheat, and have scored above 150. Just because you can't imagine anyone doing it doesn't mean they are cheating. I regularly pull averages above 130, and when in the zone hit 150 quite often. It's not magic. It's just persistence a...

Re: Using CAPS LOCK instead of SHIFT??

I'm an old school IBM keyboard guy (on a Mac now, but whatever) and cannot live without my Caps Lock key being Ctrl. But I am intrigued by the idea of changing my Shift key to Caps Lock. It will have to be the Right-Shift key, however, since I need left shift to stay right were it is for Emacs. I'll...

Advanced competition?

Do you think we will ever see an advanced competition category? I would love to have this. I realize that it presents some organization and UI challenges. Maybe even a separate set of achievements. However, I think this could be blended into the existing competition system by simply having an indica...

Re: Accidental Test Result...

Just let it get buried in your results. The occasional bad score won't effect your overall average. It happens to everyone and is not anything to fret about.

Re: Cheaters

I'm not sure about this one.

He scores almost exactly 130 WPM in every competition, time after time after time, in a single hit. His profile scores do not show any such consistency.

Re: Any typing habits?

I have noticed many times that listening to something else while typing can increase my speed on an unfamiliar test. The reason is fairly obvious. If you are focusing too much on the content of the text, you tend to slow down or stumble. If your attention is directed elsewhere, your muscle memory ca...

Re: Anyone else using Kazantsev fingering?

I have longer fingers, so perhaps the reach is not so much a concern for me. The shift keys were certainly the biggest challenge. However, Kazantsev forced me to start alternating shift keys. In the past I used only the left-shift. Now, for the first two columns of letter, at least, I naturally use ...

Anyone else using Kazantsev fingering?

After spending 20 years on Dvorak and learning Colemak a couple years back, I finally decided, for the first time, to learn Qwerty. This gave me the opportunity to unlearn some bad habits. However, when I did this, I learned using a modified hand/home position which I learned of from here: http://ty...
